What started as a project to bring back local millenary traditions in Puerto Escondido expanded into a larger initiative (Pueblo del Sol) to support local artisans, beekeepers, and farmers. To fund this community project, Casona Sforza founder and architect Alberto Kalach worked collaboratively for nearly five years to develop the properties design and features, whose revenue would help to support Pueblo del Sol. The result is a stunning and bold beachside retreat which recently began welcoming guests.

No architectural feature has been overlooked. The suites arched tile ceilings encase guests and are punctuated with floor-to-ceiling doors that open up to private pools and ocean views. Oversized ceramic pieces add scale throughout the space and handmade textiles provide texture and warmth. A sea of straw lanterns hover over the restaurant providing a stunning glow at dinnertime where guests can take in direct views of Puerto Escondido’s gorgeous sunsets.
